First written mention of the village is from 1399 as "Ketesd", then in 1437 written as "Kethesd", later in 1576 written as "Kettesd".
On the place of the Gothic church was built the new one between 1937 and 1941, designed by Kós Károly. Inside, 21 pieces of the wooden coffered ceiling are from the old church and were painted by Asztalos János of Gyalu, in 1692.
